The prejudices and weaknesses of four people are exposed through a short piece of experimental theatre. Each of the characters provide a commentary on the pretensions of avant-garde theatre (in which they are, of course playing a part) and the follies of new technologies that take them away from the whole experience of watching the play. Each in his/her own way is absent while attempting to be present.

A 10-minute play for two mature actors. A monologue for the actor playing Valerie. Franklin does not speak – although he attempts to at one point.
Valerie cares for a retired professor on the day of his wife’s funeral. Professor Franklin Westlake’s past catches up with him, as Valerie comes to terms with her own past.

This short play takes light-hearted look at the achievements of an unassuming New Zealand beekeeper and the events surrounding 29 May 1953.
No attempt has been made to accurately portray the real-life characters.
